Traffic congestion has been a main cause of frustration for a lot of us who commute
daily by road since we end up spending significant amount of valuable time without doing anything.
There are evidence which has confirmed that
exposure to traffic significantly increases the risk for heart-related diseases, such as
high blood pressure, heart attack.
Twofold higher risk of Type 2 diabetes is also observed for people exposed to intense
traffic.
Traffic has also been associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes and can affect the
hormonal and digestive system.
Over a million Indians die prematurely every year due to air pollution.
Over the past decade, air pollution has increased in India significantly. Asthma is the most
common health problem faced by Indians and it accounts for more than half of the health
issues caused by air pollution. By reducing the number of vehicles on road, we can decrease
the carbon emission levels and thereby improving the quality of air.
